Learn how to utilize both fresh and dried herbs in your cooking at this Chef Demo. Lon Lane & Stewart Lane of Inspired Creations will prepare dishes featuring fresh herbs, and Sally Cobb of Savory Spice will feature dried herbs in his dishes. Bring your appetite – a tasting will follow the chef demonstrations.

Sip four herb cocktails inspired by the Wornall House herb garden while enjoying perfectly paired herby appetizers. The creative mixologists from the US Bartender’s Guild – Kansas City will create 4 signature cocktails (3 alcoholic and 1 mocktail) just for our event, with the help from amazing simple syrups provided by Boozy Botanticals. Chef Shannon “Firebug” Kimball will provide food.

April 30: Herb and Wildflower Sale

The Herb and Wildflower Sale at the John Wornall House is a beloved annual tradition in the community. Join us to buy wildflowers from the Missouri Wildflower Nursery and locally grown herbs for your garden. Purchase multiple varieties of herbs and wildflowers, stroll the Wornall Herb Garden, and get herb-growing advice from the Wornall gardeners. Arrive early for the best selection!

 Proceeds support the Museum’s community education programs for all ages.

In 1991, Lon co-founded Inspired Occasions as The Catering Company with his wife, Marcia, and has been serving and dazzling clients nationwide with his innovative and creative style ever since. As a testimony to their work, Inspired Occasions won the coveted Catersource ACE award as the Midwest’s Best of The Best in catering for 2011. In 2012 Lon was honored with the Gillis Center Spirit Award for exemplary service to nonprofit organizations and individuals in the Kansas City Metro area.

Stewart is Research & Development Chef of Inspired Occasions. He holds a degree from Kansas State University in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He’s worked in the family catering business, Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions, since he was five years old. As a seasoned pro, in the world of off premises catering, he has served in the kitchen, in the field, and behind the scenes producing events both locally and throughout the United States.
