Farmstead to Field Hospital

Farmstead to Field Hospital

A Family in the Crossfire of War and the Making of Modern Day Medicine

In 1864, the John Wornall House became a field hospital for both the Union and Confederate wounded.  To commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Battle of Westport (October 23, 2014), the John Wornall House Museum will present the series, Farmstead to Field Hospital:  A Family in the Crossfire of War and the Making of Modern-Day Medicine, from Saturday, October 4 through Sunday, November 2, 2014.  The Wornall House will come alive with Wornall family oral histories, lectures, reenactments, and other interactive programs.  You will also learn about the challenges faced by those who braved the transition from home to hospital and the discoveries that inspired modern-day medicine.
