We can help Boy & Girl Scouts meet adventure loop, merit badge, Gold Award, and Eagle Scout requirements – in some cases, scouts can complete all requirements at the Museums!

Opportunities for Boy Scouts

Adventure Loop Kits
Our adventure loop kits contain everything you need to meet all requirements of an adventure loop, including a visit to the John Wornall House or Alexander Majors House.
Available Kits include:
Paws for Action/Duty to Country (Bear) $15.00/kit, $10.00 bulk discount
Tiger Tales (Tiger) $15.00/kit, $10.00 bulk discount

Merit Badge Field Trips

Field trips can fulfill many requirements of merit badges in a fun and historical environment! We’ll make sure to provide you with activities and information you can use to complete your badge. Book by contacting Sarah Bader-King.

Available Field Trips:

American Heritage Merit Badge (meets requirement 4)
Take a tour of the John Wornall House to learn about the Battle of Westport (requirement 4B), then learn about the evolution of the Brookside neighborhood over time (requirement 4C). Scouts are also welcome to join us for any educational events taking place within 2 months of their field trip at no additional cost (requirement 4D, optional).
Cost: $7.00/Scout, $5.00 adults

Citizenship in the Nation (meets requirement 2a)

Take a tour of the John Wornall House or Alexander Majors House to learn about why these historic homes are on the National Register of Historic Places and the notable events that took place here.
Cost: $5.00/Scouts & adults

Eagle Scout Projects
Many Eagle Scouts choose the Wornall or Majors House as the site of their Eagle project. Recent projects have included erecting a new flagpole at the Majors House and building a rose arbor at the Wornall House. Contact Kerrie Nichols for more information.

Our merit badge kits contain everything you need to meet all requirements of a merit badge, including a visit to the John Wornall House or Alexander Majors House.

Celebrating Community (Brownie) $15.00 kit/$10.00 bulk discount

Gold Awards
Wornall/Majors House Museums can serve as a project site for your Gold Award. If your passion is history or civic engagement, we are open to project ideas and will assist Scouts in their projects. Contact Kerrie Nichols for more information or to make a proposal.

Opportunities for Boy Scouts & Girls Scouts

Meetings & Rentals
Looking for outdoor meeting space for your troop? Small groups (10 or fewer) are welcome to utilize our grounds for free, with advance permission. Use our firepit for your weenie or marshmallow roast for a $100 fee. Email Sarah Bader-King for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities
If you need to fulfill volunteer hours, we have many fun ways to take part in history and help historic sites in Kansas City. From leading tours, dressing in period attire at an event, serving as a camp assistant, or doing simple maintenance or organization tasks, we can find an age-appropriate opportunity for your group.  For Boy Scouts, we can work with you to fulfill requirement 7 for your Citizenship in the Community badge!
