Alexander Majors Barn Event Attendant (contract, hourly)

Attendants oversee the Alexander Majors Barn rental facility during private events such as weddings and corporate parties. The attendant will open the space, assist renters, check the renters out, and then close the event space.

Wornall/Majors Day Camp Internship (contract, stipend)

The intern will take charge of the day-to-day running of Camp Wornall/Majors, a four-week day camp for elementary aged students. This internship is perfect for students looking to gain experience in history, museums, non-profits, or education.

Venue Management Internship (contract, hourly)

Gain valuable experience with event and venue management. Interns work closely with the Alexander Majors Rental Manager to design projects suited to their interests. Potential projects could include social media management, marketing strategies, trend research, and brand development. Students will also gain hands-on management experience while running the Alexander Majors Barn during rental events.

Unpaid Internships

Are you passionate about local history or interested in learning more about local history? Would you like to experience exciting, hands-on opportunities to bring history to life for community members? Former Wornall/Majors interns have gone on to hold jobs at institutions such as the Boeing Archives and the J. Paul Getty Museum!

The Wornall/Majors House Museums looks for interns throughout the year to help us give tours, do research projects, assist with special events, and more! Our interns will experience many facets of museum management, historical research, and non-profit administration. We value our interns and go the extra mile to make sure you receive a learning experience that fits your career goals. Most internships are ideal for undergraduate or graduate students with a focus in public service, museums or archives, or education.

Collections & Archives Internships (Unpaid)

Collections & Archives Interns work with the Curator to assist with various collections and archival tasks. Interns receive training and hands-on experiences with collections objects. In most cases, interns will be working directly with objects to assist with cataloging, researching, and accessioning. We currently have multiple collections & archives intern projects. Community Outreach Intern (Unpaid)

The Wornall/Majors House Museums is seeking a Community Outreach Intern to strengthen the Museums’ ties with the community. The intern will make connections with community groups, philanthropic groups, and educational institutions to make them aware of the programs offered by the Wornall/Majors House Museums. This individual will also assist with the logistics and marketing of educational programming that takes place during their intern period.

Museum Education Intern (Unpaid)

Perfect for students who want to work in the public history field or become teachers, our Museum Education Intern works with all of our youth events. They gain experience with planning, marketing, and facilitating youth programs. Example programs include Preschool Story Time, Camp Wornall/Majors, and Kid’s Ghost Tours. 

Interns work closely with the Alexander Majors Rental Manager to design projects suited to their interests. Potential projects could include social media management, marketing strategies, trend research, and brand development.

Students will also gain hands-on management experience while running the Alexander Majors Barn during rental events.
