Event one in our three part educational happy hour series featuring the surprising lives of Victorians and little-known secrets of Victorian society.

From morphine to opium, Victorian society was adventurous and even wild in their pursuit of altered states. How did Victorian drug culture emerge and what can explain their desire for experimentation and oblivion?

With Dr. Matthew Osborn, associate professor of history at UMKC and author of “Rum Maniacs: Alcohol Insanity in the Early American Republic.”

$15 per event or $40 for all three events. (Wornall/Majors member price $10)
Ticket includes lecture, two drink tickets, and light snacks.
